The Krasnogorsk-3 (K3) is one of the most iconic and accessible 16mm film cameras ever produced, trusted by filmmakers for its rugged mechanical design, sharp optics, and fully manual shooting experience. Manufactured by KMZ in the Soviet Union, the K3 remains a favourite among film students, independent filmmakers, and cinematographers looking to capture the unmistakable look of genuine 16mm motion picture film.
This camera is fitted with the renowned Meteor 17-69mm f/1.9 zoom lens, offering excellent sharpness, smooth zoom control, and a versatile focal range suitable for everything from wide establishing shots to detailed close-ups. The bright f/1.9 maximum aperture allows for shooting in a variety of lighting conditions while maintaining the classic cinematic character that has made the K3 so popular. It has a M42 mount allowing you to use a variety of vintage 35mm lens in tandem with the camera body.
The spring-wound mechanical motor provides selectable frame rates of 8fps, 12fps, 16fps, 24fps, 32fps, and 48fps, enabling everything from standard cinematic motion to creative slow-motion effects. A fixed 150° shutter delivers the distinctive motion rendering associated with classic 16mm filmmaking.
Designed for standard 100ft daylight spools of 16mm film, the K3 is entirely self-contained and requires no external power source for operation. The M42 lens mount also opens the door to a wide range of compatible lenses, allowing filmmakers to expand their creative possibilities beyond the supplied Meteor zoom lens.
